From a Screen-Time Struggle in Dubai
Skillful Sprout was born from a realization Swaliha had while working as a private tutor and a mother in Dubai. In her sessions, she noticed many children struggling to focus and cope with daily schoolwork. Looking closely, the number one common factor among them was excessive screen time. Worried for her own toddler, who was already getting glued to overstimulating YouTube videos followed by intense post-screen tantrums, Swaliha thought: there has to be a better way.
She started making simple laminated activity sheets for her three-year-old, designing velcro matching and sorting games by hand. The change was immediate. Her daughter stayed engaged longer, didn't throw tantrums, and genuinely looked forward to her 'activity books' every morning.
Friends started asking for copies, and friends of friends did too. What started as a personal solution to a daily screen-time struggle grew into a mission: to help UAE families escape the stress of too much screen time and rediscover hands-on learning.

With a background in early childhood research, she balances data-driven development with a deep personal belief that the best learning tools are the simplest ones. Instead of flashing lights or passive screens, she focuses on building purposeful, hands-on activities that cultivate deep engagement and real skills for her daughter.
She draws inspiration from Montessori principles, the Reggio Emilia approach, and the everyday moments of raising a bilingual child in a multicultural home. When she is not designing new activity pages, she is testing them on the toughest critic she knows: her daughter.
